Here are the most common failures during assisted recording and how to fix them.

Audio Quality Issues

  • Background Noise: High levels of ambient noise (like a loud fan or office chatter) can prevent the AI from accurately transcribing your speech into a script.
  • Microphone Muting: If Velo didn’t have proper microphone access or if your hardware was muted, the tool won’t have the audio data needed to understand your product flow.
Solution: Always check your Microphone Settings before starting and record in a quiet space.

Interaction Gaps

  • Moving Too Fast: If you click through a complex flow without speaking or explaining the steps, Velo may struggle to identify the “why” behind your actions, leading to vague Scene Cards.
  • Broken Links: If the URL you are recording crashes or fails to load during the session, the browser agent won’t be able to map the UI elements correctly.
Solution: Speak naturally and give each page a second to load so the agent can “see” the buttons you are clicking.

Script Generation Errors

  • Unclear Prompts: If the Additional Instructions provided are contradictory or too vague, the AI might generate a script that doesn’t match your professional role or audience.
  • Complex Jargon: Heavy technical jargon that is mumbled or mispronounced can lead to “hallucinated” words in your draft script.
Solution: Use the Restart button if you stumble on a difficult phrase, and provide clear, simple context in the Additional Instructions box.

Processing Timeouts

  • Internet Interruptions: A significant drop in your internet connection while clicking Finish Session can prevent the recording data from reaching our servers.
Solution: Velo has Auto-Save features, but it’s best to ensure a stable connection before finalising a walkthrough.

Extension not initialized properly

  • Permission issues: Extension won’t be able to function if proper permissions are not provided for Mic and Video.
Solution: Provide appropriate permissions to extension for Mic and Video by going into Manage Extensions.
