If you are experiencing issues with the Velo Companion extension - such as recordings not starting, the modal not appearing, or the extension becoming unresponsive - a full reinstall usually resolves the problem.

1. Remove the Extension

  • Type chrome://extensions in your browser’s address bar and press Enter.
  • Find Velo Companion in the list.
  • Click Remove and confirm the removal in the dialog.

2. Fully Quit and Restart Chrome

After removing the extension, close Chrome completely - do not just close the tab or window.
  • Mac - Press Cmd + Q to quit Chrome, then reopen it.
  • Windows - Right-click the Chrome icon in the taskbar or system tray and choose Exit, then reopen it.
This ensures any cached extension data is fully cleared before reinstalling.

3. Reinstall Velo Companion

Once Chrome has restarted:
  • Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for Velo Companion.
  • Click Add to Chrome, then click Add extension.

4. Pin the Extension and Sign Back In

After reinstalling:
  • Click the puzzle piece icon in your toolbar and pin Velo Companion for quick access.
  • Open the extension and sign back in with your Velo account.
You should now be able to start recordings normally from the make-a-velo page.
