# Uploading

> Upload your video file and get it ready to generate.

Once you've clicked the **Upload a Recording** card on the "Create your Velo" screen, you can add your file in one of two ways:

* **Drag and drop** - drag your video file directly onto the card
* **Click to browse** - click the card to open your system file picker and select the file

Velo will begin uploading immediately after you select the file. You'll see an upload progress indicator while the file transfers.

## Naming your project

Once the upload completes, you'll be prompted to name your project. Velo pre-fills a random name - you can leave it as-is or type something descriptive. The name appears in your dashboard and is just for your own reference.

## Continuing to the next step

After naming your project, click **Continue** to move to the [Select Voice](/upload-recording/select-voice) page, where you'll choose a VeloTwin and kick off generation.

<Tip>
  If your upload is taking a long time, check your file size. Files close to the 1 GB limit can take several minutes on slower connections. Consider compressing the file before re-uploading.
