## What is Velo?

    Velo is the video layer for work — AI video infrastructure that helps people and companies explain, train, and sell faster. You narrate your product, workflow, or idea once. Velo traces the explanation back to the source, renders a share-ready video with your VeloTwin presenting, and gives you a single link to distribute and track.

  <Accordion title="How is Velo different from a screen recorder like Loom?">
    A screen recorder captures exactly what happened, retakes and all. Velo works differently: you narrate a walkthrough once, and Velo's browser agent re-records it cleanly using your VeloTwin voice and face. The output is consistent every time, without a second take.

  <Accordion title="What kinds of content can I create with Velo?">
    Velo works for anyone who needs to communicate visually. Common use cases include:

    * **Sales** — video pitches to prospects
    * **Product** - feature walkthroughs and team updates

    * **Founders** - investor updates and product demos

    You can build videos from a live website, an existing screen recording, or static files like PDFs and slide decks.

  <Accordion title="Can I create a video without turning on my camera?">
    Yes. Velo builds a VeloTwin — a face clone and a voice clone — from a single photo and a short voice recording. Once it is set up, you do not need to appear on camera again for any future Velo.

  <Accordion title="Is it transparent to use an AI avatar in videos?">
    Velo generates realistic AI avatars, so it is generally not obvious to viewers that an AI was used. That said, you are always free to disclose this to your audience as you see fit.

  <Accordion title="Does Velo work on Mac and Windows?">
    Yes. Velo runs in the browser and works on any operating system. You just need Google Chrome and the Velo Chrome extension installed.

  <Accordion title="Does Velo support languages other than English?">
    Yes. Any video can be translated into another language with translated audio, without re-recording. Open the video and select **Translate** in the preview panel. See [Multilingual output](/editing-velo/translations) for the language list and the full flow.

    Prompt to Video creates a video from a text description instead of a recording, upload, or link — you describe what needs explaining, and an agent researches, scripts, voices, and renders the video for you. See [What is Prompt to Video](/prompt-to-video/overview).

## Workspaces & Teams

  <Accordion title="What is a workspace?">
    A workspace is a shared environment where your team creates, manages, and shares videos. Each workspace has its own videos, libraries, brand kit, plan, and shared minute pool. You can think of it as your team's home in Velo.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I belong to multiple workspaces?">
    Yes. You can belong to as many workspaces as you want — for example, one for your company and another for a side project. Each workspace has its own plan and minute pool, and you can switch between them using the workspace dropdown.

  <Accordion title="Can workspaces be on different plans?">
    Yes. Each workspace has its own plan. You might have one workspace on the Free plan and another on Pro — they are managed independently.

  <Accordion title="What are roles in a workspace?">
    Every workspace member has one of three roles:

    * **Member** — can create videos, publish to libraries, and share externally
    * **Admin** — everything a Member can do, plus invite and manage members, create libraries, and configure the brand kit
    * **Owner** — full control including plans, billing, SSO, and the ability to delete the workspace

    The person who creates the workspace is automatically the Owner.

  <Accordion title="How many people can I add to a workspace?">
    It depends on your plan. The **Members** page shows your current count — for example "18/20 Seats Available" on Ultra — and has a **Contact us** link if you need more. See [Pricing](/pricing/pricing) for what each plan includes.

  <Accordion title="How do shared minutes work?">
    All members in a workspace draw from the same pool of Velo minutes. When anyone in the workspace creates a video, it consumes minutes from the shared pool. You can see the remaining balance at the bottom of the sidebar and in **Settings → Usage**.

  <Accordion title="What happens when the workspace runs out of minutes?">
    Video creation is blocked for all workspace members until the cycle resets. You can [top up minutes](/settings/plans-billing) on any paid plan to resume immediately.

  <Accordion title="What are libraries?">
    Libraries are collections of published videos that you can organize by topic, team, or audience. They can be public (visible to all workspace members) or private (invite-only). Every workspace starts with a default "General" library.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the Brand Kit?">
    The Brand Kit lets you set a default logo, brand color, and CTA button for your workspace. Once configured, your branding is automatically applied to every new video — no manual setup needed per video.

  <Accordion title="Does Velo support SSO / SAML?">
    Yes. SSO and SAML 2.0 are supported via WorkOS on the Ultra plan. The workspace Owner can configure SSO from workspace settings. Common providers like Google, Microsoft, and Okta are supported.

  <Accordion title="Can teammates see my chat threads?">
    No. Every chat thread is strictly private to the person who created it. No teammate — regardless of role — can view or continue another member's chat. Admins can only see videos that have been explicitly published to a library.

## Getting Started

    You need:

    * A desktop computer
    * Google Chrome
    * The Velo Chrome extension — only for screen recordings and link walkthroughs. Uploading a file or starting from a prompt needs nothing installed.
    * A working microphone, for VeloTwin setup and for narrating a recording

  <Accordion title="Does Velo work on mobile?">
    You need a desktop to record and create videos. Once a video is published, your video link is fully responsive and looks great on any phone or tablet.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I install the Velo Chrome extension?">
    Go to the Chrome Web Store, search for **Velo Companion**, and click **Add to Chrome**. Pin it to your browser bar for quick access. You only need to do this once.

  <Accordion title="What permissions does the Chrome extension need?">
    The Velo extension requires microphone and screen recording permissions. If it is not working, go to `chrome://extensions`, find Velo Companion, and make sure the correct permissions are enabled. These are required before you can begin recording.

  <Accordion title="What is a VeloTwin?">
    A VeloTwin is your AI presenter — a **face clone** and a **voice clone**, built from a single photo and a short voice recording. In the app they are set up separately, under **Face clone** and **Voice clone**, and combined when you add a VeloTwin to a video. Once created, it can present any future Velo without you re-recording yourself.

  <Accordion title="How do I create my VeloTwin?">
    Creating a VeloTwin is a one-time two-step process. First, you take a photo using your camera following a 3-second countdown. Then you read a short training script naturally so Velo can clone your voice. Once submitted, your VeloTwin is ready to use on any project immediately.

  <Accordion title="Is setting up a VeloTwin a one-time process?">
    Yes. You set it up once, and it is available for every video you create after that.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Will my VeloTwin sound like me, including my accent?">
    Yes. Velo clones your actual voice rather than using a generic synthesised voice. It captures your specific tonality, cadence, and accent so your VeloTwin sounds like the real you.

  <Accordion title="Can I use a pre-built avatar if I haven't created my own VeloTwin?">
    Yes. Velo provides a library of public avatars you can select immediately - while your VeloTwin is being set up, or if you prefer not to create a personal one. Access to all public avatars is included on the Pro plan and above.

  <Accordion title="What if my voice recording quality is poor during VeloTwin setup?">
    After recording, Velo automatically assesses the audio quality. If it is not usable, you will be prompted to retake it with specific feedback on how to improve. Recording in a quiet space with your best available microphone gives the best results.

## Recording & Script

  <Accordion title="What are the ways to create a video?">
    There are five creation methods:

    * **Start with a screen recording** - Record your screen live using the Chrome extension as you walk through your product.
    * **Upload a recording** - Upload an existing video file (MP4 or MOV). Velo writes a new script from scratch and syncs everything into the finished video.
    * **Upload a PDF** - Import a document or slide deck as the visual base for your video.
    * **Paste a link** - Provide a URL and Velo's browser agent visits the live page directly.
    * **Start with a prompt** - Describe the video you need and Velo researches, scripts, voices and renders it with no source material at all.

  <Accordion title="Can I upload an existing video file to Velo?">
    Yes. You can upload an existing raw screen recording to Velo. Velo writes a new script from scratch, syncs your VeloTwin to it, and delivers a share-ready video — without you re-recording anything.

  <Accordion title="Can I create a video from a PDF or slide deck?">
    Yes. Velo supports PDFs and image-based slide decks as the visual foundation for your video. This is ideal for quarterly business reviews, pitch decks, and internal training guides.

  <Accordion title="How does assisted recording work?">
    You click through your product or file and narrate what is happening in your own words, as if explaining it to a colleague. Velo captures your voice and mouse movements to understand your product flow, then generates a script and a clean re-recorded video using your AI avatar.

  <Accordion title="What does the Restart button do during recording?">
    The Restart button clears your current audio and lets you redo the entire assisted recording from the beginning. Note that Restart resets the full take - it cannot re-record a single section. If you stumble on one phrase, use Restart to redo the whole walkthrough cleanly.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Velo save my progress if my internet cuts out?">
    Velo has auto-save features that protect your session during recording. However, a significant connection drop at the moment you click Finish Session can prevent data from reaching Velo's servers. It is best to confirm a stable connection before finalising your walkthrough.

  <Accordion title="Can I edit the script before the video is generated?">
    Yes. Velo writes the script and shows it in the chat, where you can review and change it before or after the video generates. See [Review and edit your script](/creating-a-velo/script-review).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is a Scene Card?">
    A scene card is one segment of a script — a timestamp range, a **VISUAL** describing what appears on screen, and the **NARRATION** to be spoken. Velo shows scene cards when it is building the visuals itself, from a link, a PDF, or a prompt. When the source is a recording, the script is shown as narration lines against timestamps instead.   <Accordion title="What if my microphone wasn't working during recording?">
    If Velo did not have microphone access, or if your hardware was muted, it will not have the audio data needed to generate a script. Always check your microphone settings before starting, and ensure the Chrome extension has the correct permissions granted.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why did Velo generate wrong or nonsensical words in my script?">
    This typically happens when technical jargon is mumbled or mispronounced during recording, causing the AI to substitute similar-sounding words. Use the Restart button to redo the walkthrough, speak clearly at a natural pace, and add context in the Additional Instructions field before generating.

## Editing & Customisation

  <Accordion title="Can I edit my Velo after it has been generated?">
    Yes. Click Open full editor in the Quick Actions bar to open the video editor, where you can make edits.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What can I customise in the editor?">
    The editor includes controls for:

    * **Background** - wallpaper, gradient, solid colour, or custom image; plus blur, padding, rounded corners, border/inset, and shadow
    * **Avatar** - position, size, shape, and zoom behaviour
    * **Cursor** - style, size, idle hiding, click sound and rotation. Only on videos made from a pasted link, where Velo draws the cursor itself
    * **Audio** - background music, narration volume, and master volume
    * **Zoom** - auto zoom (follows cursor) or manual zoom (locked to a region)
    * **Effects** - Callout and Spotlight overlays, with Mask and Zoom under Focus in the same Insert panel
    * **Cards** - intro card with your name, role, and video description
    * **Logo** - placement, size, and positioning
    * **Scripts** - view and edit your narration transcript

  <Accordion title="Can I add my company logo to a video?">
    Yes. Toggle the **Logo** switch in the editor to overlay your logo on the video. Use the positioning grid to snap it to any corner, and the Logo Size slider to scale it up or down. If you've set up a [Brand Kit](/workspaces/brand-kit), your workspace logo is applied automatically.

  <Accordion title="Can I hide sensitive information in my video?">
    Yes. The **Masks** feature lets you cover specific areas of your screen recording - such as passwords, private emails, or confidential data - so viewers only see what you intend to share. You can apply multiple masks at different points throughout the timeline.

  <Accordion title="Can I add background music to my Velo?">
    Yes. Enable the **Background Music** toggle in the Audio panel to choose from Velo's built-in music library. You can adjust music volume independently from your narration. Uploading custom music files is not yet supported.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I zoom into specific parts of the screen recording?">
    Yes. Velo supports **Auto zoom**, where the camera follows your cursor automatically, and **Manual zoom**, where you lock the camera onto a specific area. You can also enable **Make Smaller during zoom** so your avatar automatically shrinks during a zoom and never blocks the highlighted content.

## Sharing & Privacy

  <Accordion title="How do I share my Velo?">
    Click Get a sharable link in the chat view, or use the Publish video Quick Action. Once rendered, copy the link and send it to your audience — viewers can watch in their browser with no install required.

  <Accordion title="What is the difference between Publish and Share?">
    **Publish** adds a video to one or more workspace [libraries](/workspaces/libraries) so your teammates can find it. **Share** generates a public link for anyone — including people outside your workspace. These are independent actions: you can publish without sharing, or share without publishing.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I download my Velo as a video file?">
    Yes. After publishing, a **Download** option is available alongside your shareable link.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do you store my avatar and voice data?">
    Yes. Your VeloTwin and voice clone are stored securely on Velo's servers so you can reuse them across all future projects. If you delete your account, your VeloTwin and all associated training data are permanently erased.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens to my data if I delete my account?">
    Your VeloTwin, voice clone, and all training data are permanently deleted from Velo's systems when you delete your account.

## Analytics

## Pricing

  <Accordion title="How much does Velo cost?">
    Velo has four plans:

    * **Free** - \$0/month. 15 Velo minutes and 500 Prompt to Video credits per month, 3 seats, 1 voice clone, 1 avatar video per month. Downloads are watermarked by default.
    * **Pro** - \$49/month. 60 Velo minutes and 2,000 Prompt to Video credits per month, 5 seats, 3 voice clones, no watermarks, multilingual output, 3 script retries and 3 voice regenerations per video, 5 link-to-video conversions per month.
    * **Ultra** - \$200/month (\$167/month billed yearly). 600 Velo minutes and 8,000 credits per month, 20 seats, unlimited voice clones, 30 minutes of avatar video, custom VeloTwins, shared workspace, Brand Kit, unlimited link-to-video, 10 script retries and 10 voice regenerations per video.
    * **Enterprise** - custom. Everything in Ultra plus SSO and SAML, SCIM, RBAC, content governance, data residency, SCORM export, API and SDK.

  <Accordion title="What are Velo Minutes?">
    Velo Minutes are the unit of usage for recording-based videos. Each plan includes a monthly allowance that is shared across all workspace members. Minutes are consumed based on the length of the recordings and videos you generate.

  <Accordion title="The app says 'Reach credits' — is that the same as Prompt to Video credits?">
    Yes. [Prompt to Video](/prompt-to-video/overview) is billed in credits from a pool separate from Velo minutes, and some screens in the app label that pool **Reach credits**. It is the same pool described in [Billing & credits](/prompt-to-video/billing-credits).
